Here is a quick video of how to cook steak directly on hot coals. I got the idea from Alton Brown. I don’t however have a regular charcoal grill, so I got creative and used my fire pit. It worked perfectly, the steak was amazing! I do not assume any responsibility if you do this and hurt yourself, burn someone, something, or start a fire… I had a hose at the ready, and a big fire extinguisher as well. I used a Vornado fan as a bellows, since the fire pit doesn’t have air openings at the bottom… It worked remarkably well. BUT EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION, EMBERS POPPED and SPARKED! We had rain all day today, so everything was wet.
