Soap:
The PAA 11235 is very close to the scent of 4711. The biggest thing I find, is that the 11235 is a little powdery, creamy and soapy up front. After you get past that, which isn’t hard, you definitely sense the underlying tones of 4711. While not a dead ringer, it is a nice take on the very old scent. The shaving soap is a perfect match with the 4711 after shave. They may not be 100% exact, but they could easily be brother and sister. Well done. My only comment would be, bring out a bit more of that zesty, sweet, crisp clean scent of 4711 in the top end. Other than that, it’s good stuff!
Razor & Blade:
This is the 3rd or 4th time I have shaved with my $12 flea market Gillette FatBoy find. I am very impressed. I am still working out which setting I need to be on. I had it loaded with an amazing Polsilver blade. I have the razor set to #7 on the adjustment scale. I did end up with a nick/weeper on the lower right side of my neck. I may dial down the razor to #6 next time I shave with it. I am so happy I found this razor though, it provides a great shave.
Aftershave:
4711 is a classic scent, which is over 200 years old. I remember being a young boy, and my German Grandma dousing me with the stuff. At first I didn’t like it as a kid, but I grew to love it. To this day it reminds me of my Grandmothers love, and always instills wonderful thoughts of her when I smell it. It is one of my favorite scents, due to this sentimental connection.
Final Thoughts:
Very impressed, I am very happy I bought the larger sized puck. The shave went exceptionally well, as you would expect from a PAA shave. The FatBoy is wonderful, and the 4711 finished it off perfectly.
