as i stated in an earlier post. im fed up with entourage. here is how i migrated over to apple mail 3.2.
its really pretty simple…
1. open apple mail
2. click file
3. click import mailboxes
4. select microsoft entourage
5. click continue
6. apple mail will then import one folder at a time from microsoft entourage to apple mail. it will store all these folders in a mailbox called imported.
7. from there i sorted my mail folders in apple mail, basically i just dragged them out of the “imported” folder. then i rearranged them the way i wanted them, and took some time to delete some unneeded stuff.
basically the way i organized my boxes/folders in apple mail is as follows.
on my mac
— temp
— family & friends
—- sub folders for each family member / friend
— work
—- sub folders for work files
— vendors etc…
—- subfolders for all the vendors and assorted companies and websites i work with
after all that was completed i added my bellsouth acct info into apple mail.

Your simple solution does not work in all cases.
Worked dandy. Like you, I’m fed up with Entourage, having gone through my third or fourth session of it losing months’ worth of emails!
Thanks! Though the post is a year old it helped with a small hiccup I was dealing with.
I have been trying to get Entourage synced with my iPhone and it seemed to do it only one way. i.e. from Entourage to iPhone not the other way around.
I just had to get over the ‘So what if the calendar, address book and mail are separate apps’. It seemed like I was going to lose a lot of convenience. But by placing the icons back into the dock (I had taken them out thinking I’d only need Entourage), they are one click away just as in Entourage!
Since my switch from PC I’ve had to overcome a lot of those ‘buts’. BUT it’s all actually much more intuitive!
I’m loving my switch!

I am glad I could help, for quicker access… You might want to try Quicksilver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicksilver_(software)
Its an absolute must in my opinion. The above link is to wikipedia this link goes to the original developers site: http://www.blacktree.com/
That reminds me I should do a writeup for QS =)
Take care!
Hi there. I would like to change from using Entourage to Macmail but the simple “import mailbox” from Entourage just throws up an error message saying “unable to connect to Entourage” Entourage is open on my workbook but not sure what to try next. Can anyone help please?
very helpful. Many thanks
Thanks a lot – simple, but saved me working it out for myself!
Great, I am glad to see it helped you!
how can I convert entourage rules to apple mail rules without retyping all of them? That would be a big help as I really want to get rid of entourage on 10.6. Many thanks for any help you can give.
this was very easy but i have a few chalenges.
i have a lot of folders in my entorage and the folders came over to mail but many are empty. the folder is there but there are no mail files there .
it also left our my primary inbox folder that has 6000 email files in it.
any ideas on this stuff?
thanks
All the subfolders came over when I did this but all but one are empty. Any ideas?
I think this happened to me. You could always nuke the folders in the origin, and import just the one folder afterwards. I think that may work.
