Here are some pictures of the scales (handle) from my Wade & Butcher Spike and Barbers Notch. They are original to the blades which make them also about 180 years old. There is one crack in the scales from the spike at the pivot pin hole. I will be fixing this with a waterproof epoxy. First I had to use a Dremel with a small cut off disk to grind down the pins. Then carefully remove the pins without causing too much stress on the scales. Today I will be soaking them in Neetsfoot Oil. Tonight I will let them dry out a bit and tomorrow I will start with the epoxy (assuming I can find waterproof epoxy today).
Enjoy the pics…
