Well, its been a few months since we had U-Verse installed. I figured I would take some time to state my thoughts…
The U-Verse system replaced 6mb DSL / Bellsouth Phone Service and Dish Network TV service. Installation took a few hours to complete. When everything was finished I was rather impressed…
A few days later my thoughts started to change. The internet speed started to decrease, and well the TV service was less than spectacular. The main DVR box started freezing a few times a day. It seemed that the service continued to degrade on a daily basis.
To make a long story short… We ended up having AT&T come out no less than 6 times. They ended up replacing all the DVRs, some of the wiring and many of the connections. They also replaced some of the components on the side of my house and at the box down the block from my house.
Slowly but surely the service has started – mind you only now started to become a little more stable. My wife however is so frustrated if she had it her way we would use the DVR as a target at the shooting range.
Recently, AT&T released a new DVR update, I think the update has really made a difference. The DVR no longer freezes every hour or so.
If you are techy and really dont mind some bugs. Its a nice service. Specially for the internet. But if you really get annoyed by bugs I would recommend holding back a year or so.
I really haven’t had many problems with the internet anymore so I can definitely vouch for the net service. I get about 20mb down and almost 2mb up.
